Apollo the Child a spoken word poet, emcee, radio host and youth worker. He's one half of the hip hop duo Poetic Elements and represents the Dead Ringer arts collective. Current co-director of the Urban Legends Poetry Collective. He hosts the Home Invasion Show on CKCUFM. He created the after school youth writing program Youth Speak in partnership with the Ottawa Public Library and has represented Ottawa nationally 6 times. His most recent team came in third place at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word. He's currently working on his first book titled Poems For People I Used to Know and will be featured in a documentary titled In Their Own Words. He will also be releasing his first cinepoem for his piece My Hero Drives a Cab. King Kimbit Thu Anh Nguyen, better known as King Kimbit, is a versatile, Ottawa-based spoken word artist, singer and instrumentalist. She is best known for her ability to blend gritty personal narratives with compassionate social consciousness. As the daughter of Vietnamese immigrants and the truths of her social vantage point as a young woman of colour, Kimbit articulates her stance on social issues regarding racism, de/colonization, and gender inequality. Kim’s skills as a singer lyricist, poet and guitarist have earned her a reputation as a fresh voice and rising talent within Canadian spoken word. She has performed across Canada, as well as in Washington DC, California, Texas, and Jamaica. King Kimbit is the 2012 Urban Legends Poetry Slam Champion, represented Ottawa at the Canadian Festival of Spoken Word, and is a notable alumni of the Ottawa Youth Poetry Project. Roua Aljied Roua Aljied aka Philosi-fireis a spoken word poet who is passionate about writing, social justice, and people. Born in Sudan and raised in London, Ontario she is currently living in Ottawa, Ontario. Her poetry focuses on issues such as anti-blackness, human rights abuses, gender-based violence, and Islamophobia. In 2014 she was crowned the Ottawa youth slam champion as well as the women’s Versefest slam champion. She has coordinated with Women in International Security Canada and the 16 Days of Activism Campaign as well as performed for the 2016 International Women’s Day ceremony in Ottawa to speak about issues of domestic abuse. Her work has been taught in classrooms, featured on CBC, as well as screened across Canada, the US, Ukraine, Germany, Ireland and Serbia. The summer of 2016, Roua gave a TEDx talk about intersectionality and accessibility in activism. Jason Gullo Mullins
Jason.G.Mullins, a member of the Bird Clan from the South Eastern Cherokee Nation, was born in New York City from a family with strong artistic background.
He has been actively involved in his community’s preservation of Aboriginal culture from a young age. He dances modern and traditional pow-wow, and is also a theatrical artist who has performed on Broadway with the Harlem Dance Theatre and as part of the World Festival at the Madison Square Gardens.
A self-taught artist who enjoys working with different mediums, Jason uses his art to reflect his culture, as well as other Nations stories and traditions. His art has been sold across Canada and New York, privately, at art shows and Pow Wows.
Jason has worked in many diverse and intimate settings across Canada and the US sharing stories of his culture, traditional songs, dance and teachings. He is a member of the Aboriginal Experiences theatrical team providing Aboriginal cultural programming and artistic performances for local and national festivals.

Kalkidan Assefa
Kalkidan Assefa, aka drippin soul, was born in Ethiopia and currently resides and works in Ottawa. He is a Visual Artist and certified Artist-Educator specializing in small and large-scale portraiture, figurative, and iconographic paintings, as well as canvases, murals, and illustration.
Known as one of Ottawa’s most in-demand muralist, Kalkidan works in acrylics and assorted mixed media, and his mural work has been featured in numerous public spaces in Ottawa, including at George Brown Arena for WestFest and on the Ottawa Tech Wall in a stirring tribute to Sandra Bland.
Kalkidan has also had his work featured in exhibits at the Daniels Spectrum in Toronto, the Ottawa Public Library Gallery, and the SUPAFRIK Gallery in Washington DC. Most recently, he spent several months teaching and living in a Cree community in Northern Quebec.

Komi Olaf
Komi Olaf is a Visual Artist and spoken word poet, born in Kaduna, Nigeria. His love and obsession with art and self-expression from an early age led him on dynamic journey of self-discovery through Architecture, art and poetry.
After receiving his Master of Architecture degree in 2009, he began to develop his artistic practice as a self-taught artist working in the emergent tradition of Afro-Futurism, a contemporary genre of art that addresses themes and concerns of the African diaspora through a techno-culture and science fiction lens. H
Komi’s surrealistic art and poetry bring together distinctive images in a playfully profound vision of a futuristic diaspora. He pushes his art in wondrous directions, immersing his realistically portrayed characters in mysterious dream worlds of splendor and soul. His work draws inspiration from his immediate environment, Music and Positive energy. A former resident of Ottawa, Komi is represented by Agora Gallery in New York City.
